چکیده

Recent demands for high-performance lightweight materials have brought researchers’ attention to various nanoparticles reinforce polymeric materials. As such, sustainable and stiff cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) become a popular candidate as nano-reinforcements. While CNC can offer great advantages, such high mechanical properties low density, it might agglomerate even in hydrophilic polymers because of its strong affinity itself (intra intermolecular hydrogen bonds) which prevents broader use industrial applications. This study aims improve the compatibility between polyamide 6 (PA6) by chemical modification that produces surface polarity drastically different from non-modified CNC. The was rendered covalent coupling stearic acid (SA) hydroxyl groups produce stearate modified (CNC SA). effect analyzed SA reinforced PA6 nanocomposites, results are compared samples. addition unmodified provided modest improvement while CNC-SA substantial on modulus tensile strength nanocomposite films.

Expandable graphite/polyamide-6 nanocomposites

Polyamide-6 (PA-6)/graphite nanocomposites were prepared by melt blending, using a variety of graphites, including virgin graphite, expandable graphites and expanded graphite. The resulting nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, cone calorimetry, and tensile mechanical analysis. Nanocomposite formation does occur, as denoted by the nanometre dispersi...

Size effects on the nanomechanical properties of cellulose I nanocrystals

The ultimate properties of a fibrous composite system depend highly on the transverse mechanical properties of the fibers. Here, we report the size dependency of transverse elastic modulus in cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs). In addition, the mechanical properties of CNCs prepared from wood and cotton resources were investigated. Nanoindentation in an atomic force microscope (AFM) was used in comb...

Preparation and Properties of Cellulose Laurate (CL)/Starch Nanocrystals Acetate (SNA) Bio-nanocomposites

In the present paper, a series of totally novel bio-nanocomposite films from cellulose laurate (CL) and starch nanocrystals acetate (SNA) were fabricated, and the properties of nanocomposite films were investigated in detail. SNA was obtained by modifying starch nanocrystals (SNs) produced by sulfuric acid hydrolysis of corn starch with acetic anhydride. The favorable dispersity of SNA in chlor...
